Missed your period and wondering what’s next? Maybe you’re experiencing symptoms like fatigue, bloating, or nausea—all possible signs of pregnancy. Additionally, pregnancy signs can be confusing, with some women experiencing many of them while others may not notice any at all.

Fortunately, you don’t have to rely on ambiguous symptoms to find out. At Branches Family Resource Center, we’re here to provide clarity and support through free and confidential pregnancy testing.

How Do Pregnancy Tests Work?

Pregnancy tests detect the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone produced during pregnancy. HCG can be detected in urine or blood around 10 to 11 days after conception.

The most common pregnancy tests are available at pharmacies or grocery stores. They are urine-based kits that test for hCG and typically deliver results within a few minutes.

We offer pregnancy tests to ensure accurate results. This simple process can help discover whether or not you’re pregnant, giving you the answers you need to plan your next steps.

When Should I Take a Pregnancy Test?

Many at-home pregnancy tests claim to be able to detect a pregnancy before a missed period. However, for the most accurate results, the Mayo Clinic recommends taking a pregnancy test at least one day after your missed period. Testing first thing in the morning is ideal since your urine is more concentrated, increasing the likelihood of detecting hCG.

What If My Results Are Positive?

Receiving a positive pregnancy test can bring a mix of emotions and questions. At Branches, we’re here to walk alongside you. After confirming your at-home results with a retest, we can provide an Options Consultation appointment, where you’ll find a safe space to ask questions, learn about your options, and discover all the resources we offer to help you during pregnancy and beyond.

Our caring team will share all your options in a safe, nonjudgmental space. Whether you’re exploring parenting, adoption, or abortion, we’re here to equip you with the information and resources you need to make an informed decision for your future.
